A trekker treats a patient in a mountain village

Physicians, dentists, nurses, PA and also other volunteers--including family members--are invited to join this two-week trek in a remote region of the Himalayas to support and train local health providers and treat hundreds of villagers who have little or no health care. Trek dates are November 17 to December 3, 2012.
The first ten volunteers will be accepted. They will be supported by a team of over twenty five medical and trek staff and about fifty to one hundred porters. Everything will be portered in. The highest point on the trek will be 13,000 feet, and trekkers will see some of the beautiful high peaks in the Ganesh Himal. Medical work will be empirical at best with little diagnostic support.
A trek description is available, as is a basic information package, which has the trek application forms and requirements.

All net proceeds from the handicraft sales are used to fund primary health care, medical and educational projects, giving to those involved in the production process a sense of pride that comes by helping and sustaining many others, in even greater need than themselves.
